SHEA Charity has received an urgent request to assist 22-month-old, Avisha, who has been diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL). She has been an in-house patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital for approximately 45 days, where the advanced treatment needed to save her life is sadly not available.

Despite her doctors’ incredible efforts to treat Avisha, her condition is worsening as time passes. She will eventually need a bone marrow transplant, which is not available in Guyana; therefore, she must travel for treatment overseas.

Time is of the essence, and we need your help to create a miracle for Avisha to travel to the USA for urgent treatment to save her life. She must travel within the next two weeks, so please do not hesitate in helping. Anything is appreciated.

Update: December 10, 2019:
Avisha safely arrived in the United States and began treatment to combat her Leukemia diagnosis. She will be in treatment for approximately 2 years.

Update: October 28, 2020:
Almost one year after accepting Avisha’s case, we are pleased to share that her cancer is in remission!

She will be completing her initial treatment phase at the end of October, followed by 10 days of interim-maintenance treatment, after which she will enter maintenance phase with oral medication. If all goes according to plan, Avisha should be home in Guyana by Christmas, with follow-up visits to the USA every few months.

Update: February 9, 2021
Avisha returned home to Guyana today, and we are happy to share that her cancer is in REMISSION!

She must continue maintenance treatment for approximately one year under the caring and capable hands of her mom, Nicola, and medical team in Guyana; however, SHEA Charity, along with Avisha’s U.S. based medical team stand ready to provide support should she need us anytime in the near future.

We would like to extend sincere gratitude to EVERYONE who provided support in one way or another. Thank you!
