Davie Nirdhan

At just 13-years-old, Davie of Parika, has already fought for her life once.

She battled leukemia with strength far beyond her years, enduring endless rounds of chemotherapy, sleepless nights in hospital rooms, nausea that stole her appetite, and pain that no child should ever know. After months of suffering, she finally went into remission, bringing hope and relief to her loved ones. But now, in what should have been her healing phase, the unthinkable has happened; during her maintenance treatment, her cancer returned, and this time, it’s far more aggressive.

Davie is currently in Guyana, where her doctors are providing outstanding support care; however, the specialized treatment which is urgently needed to save her life simply is not available in Guyana. Her doctors have reached out to us at SHEA Charity, and we are working in collaboration with them to seek international medical intervention to save this young child.

SHEA Charity is committed to doing everything possible to help Davie, but we cannot do it alone. As we work to secure treatment, coordinate transfer logistics, and immigration matters, we ask that you kindly help us in the process of bring hope to Davie. Please donate and share her story.

We need your help to cover Davie’s life-saving treatment, along with travel, housing, meals, and basic living essentials while she’s away from home.

Davie’s mother (a single mom) is doing everything in her power to stay strong, but the cost of hope is far beyond what any family in their position can bear. This little girl has already proven she’s a fighter. Now, she needs her community to fight with her. From your heart, please give whatever you can today.

Update: November 13, 2025
After what felt like an endless uphill battle, days filled with setbacks, red tapes that tested our strength, and nonstop pleas for help, we are finally able to breathe a sigh of relief and overwhelming gratitude. Today, Davie is departing Guyana to begin the lifesaving cancer treatment she so urgently needs.

This moment didn’t just happen. It was fought for.

By our unstoppable SHEA volunteers. By compassionate doctors and medical partners, both here at home and across the world. And by every single donor and well-wisher who refused to look away, who believed in Davie even on the hardest days, and who held this child up with love, prayers, and generosity.

Because of you, this little girl now has a fighting chance. Because of you, hope is literally taking flight today.

As Davie, her mother, and her brother (her potential bone marrow donor) begin this critical journey, we ask that you continue to cover them in your prayers.

They have a long road ahead, but today, today is a victory.

Davie’s First Treatment Update: November 23, 2025

Over the past few days, Davie has completed all the major evaluations with her medical team, and we are grateful to share some important updates about her treatment journey.

Her doctors have confirmed that Davie is responding well so far. Her early results are encouraging; so much so that they are safely removing three intense chemotherapy blocks from her treatment regimen. This means less toxicity on her body and a greater focus on immunotherapy, which offers her a gentler, more effective path forward.

There is one challenge ahead: tests revealed that Davie has what’s known as the Philadelphia chromosome, which places her in a higher-risk group for relapse. But there is hope, a targeted medication, taken in the form of a tablet, will help control this issue long-term, and we are optimistic she will be able to continue this treatment back home in Guyana once that time comes.

Davie now has a central line placed to prevent painful daily needle sticks, and she handled the procedure like the brave fighter she is. She has also began chemotherapy.

We will continue to update you as she moves through this next phase. Thank you to all our supporters, donors, and well-wishers who made it possible for Davie to reach this point. Please continue to keep her, her mother, and her brother in your prayers as treatment begins.

Treatment term is expected to be one year.

A Miracle Moment Update: January 22, 2026

With hearts full of gratitude, we are overjoyed to share this incredible milestone with our SHEA family, Davie Nirdhan is officially cancer-free.

After months of intense treatment, unwavering courage, and prayers from across the world, Davie has reached a moment we all hoped and prayed for. This is a victory worth celebrating.

But her fight isn’t over yet.

Davie is now preparing for the most critical phase of her journey: a bone marrow transplant, the step that will help ensure the cancer does not return and gives her the chance at a long, healthy life.

Update: April 2026

Today marks Day 67 of 100 in Davie’s critical post–bone marrow transplant phase, a major milestone in her recovery journey.

We are incredibly grateful to share that Davie has been progressing well overall. While she has experienced some minor side effects along the way, including fainting spells, loss of appetite, and periods of severe nausea and vomiting, she continues to push through with strength and resilience.

All things considered, she is doing extremely well, and her recovery remains on track. We are hopeful that she will continue without any major complications and, if all goes well, return home to Guyana by mid-June.

Thank you for continuing to keep Davie in your thoughts and prayers. Your support is what makes journeys like hers possible.

Every single day without treatment brings more risk.

Your kindness could be the reason Davie gets a second chance at life.
