Joel Bedessie

On June 12, 2019, SHEA received a heart wrenching plea for help from the mother of 11-year-old Joel Bedessie. Joel had been diagnosed with Wilms Tumor. This large tumor is resting on his right kidney. As a result, Joel is in debilitating pain. He is unable to eat or sleep and no amount of medication brings him relief.

The surgery to remove this tumor can be done in Guyana at a cost of approximately $1,000,000 GYD ($5,000 USD). Unfortunately, Joel has been suffering for 2 months because his family cannot afford the cost of the surgery.

Update: June 18, 2019
Joel received surgery to remove the tumor on his kidney. The tumor was sent out for testing to determine whether Joel will need further treatment. Joel’s parents are relieved and extremely grateful that he was able to receive this treatment and they express sincere thanks to everyone who made it possible by donating.
