Jomahri Mortley

October 29, 2021

10-year-old Jomahri Mortley was admitted to Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana, on October 28 with second degree burns to 55% of his body. These injuries were sustained during a accident involving hand sanitizer. Sadly, Jomahri curiously wanted to test whether the substance was flammable and his body caught on fire.

Unfortunately, the advanced treatment and technology necessary to save this young child is not yet available in Guyana. However, due to the severity of his injuries he must be treated urgently. Therefore, a request was made to SHEA Charity to assist in a medical transfer for Jomahri to receive treatment in the United States.

With urgency, SHEA has accepted Jomahri’s case and secured treatment for him in the US. Please help us save this young child by making a donation today.

Update: November 12, 2021

Jomahri safely arrived in the United States and was placed into immediate treatment. He will be in treatment for several months where he will receive extensive skin graft surgeries and multiple levels of physical therapy.

Update: January 10, 2022

Jomahri is making significant progress as he continues his treatment regimen.
