Neleissa LaRose
February 2, 2020
Little Neleissa LaRose is currently hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana, with third degree burns to 70% of her body. She is unable to receive treatment at this hospital due to the lack of advanced treatment required to save her life.
This injury occurred at her home in Maria Henrietta Berbice River, when a gasoline container which was being used to start a fire, exploded next to her.
SHEA Charity has accepted 4-year-old Neleissa’s case and we have secured treatment services for her in the USA. However, due to the severity of her injuries, Neleissa must be transported by medical air ambulance from Georgetown, Guyana to Houston, Texas for urgent lifesaving surgery.

Update: April 9, 2020
On February 4, 2020, Neleissa was transported from Georgetown, Guyana to Houston, TX via air ambulance and was immediately placed into treatment upon her arrival.
She has since undergone several extensive surgeries; however, due to the extent of her injuries, she developed an infection in her leg. Despite her doctors’ desperate attempts to save the leg, they were unsuccessful and instead had to amputate, to save her life.
Neleissa is a fighter and she has the support of her family, especially her dad, Kelon, who is her biggest fan. We know that she will soon be back to the bubbly little girl she was prior to this terrible accident.
Update: July 28, 2020
Neleissa has completed all of her initial treatment and therapies. She is now able to walk unassisted with her prosthesis! Neleissa returned home to Guyana today.
She will have several follow-up treatments in the US, and SHEA will provide assistance to facilitate those follow-ups.
