Shane McFarlane

Shane McFarlane is a 12-year-old boy from Guyana who was first diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma (cancer) at the age of 9. He completed his full course of treatment at Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), and for a time his family believed the worst was behind them. But in 2025, he relapsed. He's been in treatment ever since, and now he needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. However, this lifesaving procedure is not yet available in Guyana.

After years of hospitals and chemotherapy, he has missed much of the childhood he should be living. He loves playing soccer with his little sister and dreams of becoming a police officer when he grows up. He misses being at home with his family, going to school and seeing his friends. He misses what it feels like to just be a child. His biggest wish is to finish treatment and stop having to take chemo.

SHEA Charity was presented with Shane's case in October 2026 and gladly accepted. Since the transplant he needs cannot be performed in Guyana, we have worked in partnership with his treating physicians to secured treatment for him at the National

Cancer Institute in Nagpur, India. He is currently being kept stable by his incredible in-country medical team while we work on securing funding, coordinating travel arrangements, and handling logistics for his medical transfer.

 We need approximately $30,000 to cover Shane's hospital treatment, flights for him and his mom, housing, meals, and basic living expenses during his stay in India. The goal is to have everything coordinated within 2 weeks so Shane can travel in early November 2026 to begin treatment.
