Shiv Thompson
July 13, 2023
3-Year-Old Shiv Thompson sustained deep second degree burns across 50% of his tiny body when he accidentally fell into a pot of boiling water at his home in Mabaruma, Guyana. He was immediately rushed to the regional hospital and quickly transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where doctors worked tirelessly to stabilize him.
He is currently at Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana, where his doctors are providing outstanding supportive care. However, due to the extent of his injuries, he must be medically airlifted to the United States for emergency surgery and management.
SHEA Charity has accepted Shiv’s case and we are urgently working on his transfer to the US. Due to the severity of Shiv’s injuries, he must be transferred by air-ambulance (medevac). Please help us help Shiv in this desperate fight for his life by making a generous donation today.
Update: July 17, 2023
We are happy to share that Shiv departed Guyana this morning via Jet Rescue Air Ambulance bound to the United States for emergency medical treatment.
We would like to thank everyone involved in getting Shiv to this point, especially the doctors and management team at GPHC, the US embassy in Guyana, our volunteers, the US based medical team, and everyone who has donated.
SHEA Charity was made aware of Shiv’s case on July 13, and because of the swift actions of those mentioned above, we were able to coordinate his evacuation in 3 days.
Update: August 11, 2023
Shiv has completed his treatment in the United States and ready to travel back home to Guyana. He will continue to have regular follow-up care by the Burn Care Unit at GPHC in Guyana.
Please join us and help save this young child by making a donation today!
